About Hospital

AMRI Hospital-Dhakuria, the flagship unit of AMRI Hospitals Ltd, Eastern India's largest healthcare network, started as a dream of some of Kolkata leading physicians. The doctors, who set up the hospital after earning a name for themselves in the public healthcare delivery system, decided to join hands to provide quality healthcare services at affordable rates. The likes of Dr Mani Kumar Chhetri, Dr Satyabrata Basu, Dr Anupam Dasgupta, Dr R.K. Dutta Ray, and Dr A.K. Mitra Mustafi were the pioneers who laid the foundation stone for one of India's first public-private ventures in healthcare. On July 1, 1996, Advanced Medical Research Institute came into being as a joint venture with the Government of West Bengal. The hospital initially started with OPD services and by 1997 it had turned into a 150-bed hospital. AMRI Hospital-Dhakuria stated its annexe building in 2005 with another 200 beds and added around 75 beds by 2014. The hospital boasts of state-of the-art Emergency and Critical Care services, which have been lauded as a Centre of Excellence owing to its advanced care and treatment. The Critical Care and Emergency departments are served by a high-end team of doctors and nursing staff, providing round-the-clock services, backed by specialised equipment, like ECMO, SLED and CRRT. The hospital also offers Trauma Care and Survival of Trauma, bringing together the combination of the three crucial disciplines of neurology, orthopaedics and maxillofacial surgery, providing holistic treatment in Emergency. The hospital also has excellent set up for 'Golden Hour' support in Cardiac Sciences, along with facilities for advanced treatment procedures in angioplasty, CABG, valve replacement, etc. The cardiac Emergency department at AMRI Hospital-Dhakuria provides support across the board, from paediatric to geriatric. Besides excellent and well-equipped Neurosciences department, the hospital at Dhakuria, a landmark in itself, provides top-of-the-line treatment and surgical facilities, across disciplines like Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology and Urology, General Medicine, General and Laparoscopic surgery. The hospital also has a well-equipped Oncology department, providing holistic care and treatment – surgical, medical, radiation, haematological and palliative care -- for all kinds of Cancer. In keeping with the spirit of the AMRI Hospitals Group, which invests in technology-driven healthcare processes to make treatment protocols more precise, the hospital at Dhakuria has a state-of-the-art radiotherapy facility, with latest technologies being used. The hospital offers advanced nuclear imaging investigative options like Positron Emission Tomography or PET-CT, which reveals information about both the structure and function of cells and tissues in the body during a single imaging session. Other advanced features of the department are Single-photon Emission Computed Tomography or SPECT CT, treatment through Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), and Volumetric Modulated Arc radiotherapy or VMAT, a new type of IMRT technique.
